Can I pay with co-branded cards?

How does the banking background process for online payments work?
After selecting the bank card payment method on the merchant/service provider's website, the customer initiates the payment, as a result of which he/she is transferred to the Bank's payment page equipped with a secure communication channel. To make the payment, it is necessary to enter the card number, expiration date, and the 3-digit validation code found on the signature strip on the back of the card. You initiate the transaction, and from then on the card undergoes real-time authorization, during which the authenticity, coverage, and purchase limit of the card data are checked. If all data is sufficient to continue the transaction, the amount to be paid is blocked on the card by the account manager (card issuing) bank. The amount is debited (deducted) from the account, depending on the account manager bank, within a few days.
How is online card shopping different from traditional shopping?
We distinguish between transactions with the presence of the card (Card Present) and transactions without the presence of the card (Card not Present). A Card Present transaction is carried out using a POS terminal device. After swiping the card and entering the PIN code, the terminal contacts the cardholder's bank, via the authorization center, and depending on the card type and issuer, via the VISA or MasterCard network. Here, the validity and coverage check (authorization) takes place. Going back along the former path, the POS terminal (or the merchant) receives the approval or rejection. The customer signs the receipt. A Card not Present is a transaction in which the bank card is not physically present. This includes transactions carried out by mail, telephone or electronically (internet), in which the customer (cardholder) initiates the transaction by entering the requested card details on a secure (256-bit encrypted) payment page. You will receive a so-called license number, which is the same as the number on the paper receipt.
What does reservation mean?
When the bank becomes aware of the transaction, it is immediately followed by a reservation (blocking), since the official data must first be received for the actual debit, which takes a few days and during that time the purchased amount could be spent again. Therefore, with the reservation, the purchased or borrowed money is separated and placed under reservation. The reserved amount belongs to the account balance, i.e. it accrues interest, but cannot be spent again. The reservation ensures the rejection of transactions for which there is no longer any cover, although the account balance would still provide this possibility in principle.
In what cases can a transaction fail?
Usually, a payment order is not accepted by the card-issuing bank (i.e. where the customer received the card); but in the case of using a bank card, this can also be due to the fact that the authorization request does not reach the card-issuing bank due to a telecommunications or IT error.
Card-related error
Invoice error
Connection error
Technical error
What to do if the payment procedure fails?
A transaction ID is generated for each transaction, which we recommend that you note down. If the transaction is declined by your bank during the payment attempt, please contact your bank.
Why do I need to contact the account holding bank in case of payment failure?
During card verification, the account manager (card issuing) bank notifies the merchant (acquiring) bank collecting the amount whether the transaction can be completed. The acquiring bank may not disclose confidential information to a customer of another bank; only the bank that identifies the cardholder has the right to do so.
What does it mean if I received an SMS from my bank about the reservation/blocking of the amount, but the merchant/service provider indicates that the payment was unsuccessful?
This phenomenon can occur if the card has been verified on the payment page, but you have not returned to the merchant/service provider's website. In this case, the transaction is considered incomplete and therefore automatically unsuccessful. In such a case, the amount will not be charged to your card, and the reservation will be canceled.
What does VeriSign and the 256-bit encrypted TLS communication channel mean?
TLS is an abbreviation for Transport Layer Security, an accepted encryption method. Our bank has a 256-bit encryption key that protects the communication channel. A company called VeriSign allows CIB Bank to use the 256-bit key, which we use to ensure TLS-based encryption. Currently, this encryption method is used in 90% of electronic commerce in the world. The browser program used by the buyer uses TLS to encrypt the cardholder's data before sending it, so that it reaches CIB Bank in an encoded form, making it unintelligible to unauthorized persons.
After payment, my browser warned me that I was leaving the security zone. Is the security of my payment guaranteed?
Absolutely yes. The payment process takes place over a 256-bit encrypted communication channel, so it is completely secure. After the transaction, you will be returned to the merchant's website. If the merchant's website is not encrypted, your browser will warn you that you have left the encrypted channel. This does not pose a threat to the security of the payment.
What does CVC2/CVV2 code mean?
